BUILDEASE^® is the latest in a series of software programs developed within the last fifteen years, using the Ease^® software engine. During this time, Lifease^® has been providing proactive solutions for professionals and consumers to promote continued independence for people with disabilities, and the growing senior population that wishes to live more safely, conveniently and comfortably in their own home.

How BUILDEASE^® Works
The professionals at Lifease^® have created a logical approach that combines assessment of both the client and the home with the speed and accuracy of the computer. The assessment tools drive a database of solutions that include both suggestions and product information.

Clinics, Hospital Settings or Private Practice
Using our previous EASE^® software, home health, social service agencies and professionals have completed client/home assessments that help people remain independent. Whether delivered to a client through hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers or case managers, Ease^® provided the client with the knowledge and the approaches they need to live more fulfilled lives.

Colleges and Universities
The Ease^® approach is logical, easy to use and comprehensive. That's why over 40 colleges and universities nationwide teach it in their occupational therapy programs.

For Home Modification Specialists:
Lifease^® has expanded its software offerings to include  BUILDEASE^®  This tool assists contractors, architects, interior designers, as well as nurses, occupational and physical therapy practitioners and others to create homes that compensate for the needs of clients and for spaces that provide independence.

BUILDEASE™ COMPONENTS

·        ABILITIES/CHARACTERISTICS – The software user can select the functions that are most problematic for the client and click on those that need to be addressed. Suggestions for taking measurements of the client are included.  

·        HOME CHECKLIST – An in-depth checklist of rooms or items that need to be reviewed is included to determine what modifications will be required. Measurement suggestions are included for specific areas.

··WORKSHEET – The output is the result of the customization created from the items that were checked in the Abilities and Home Checklist sections that were checked. It guides the user in selecting from a database of more then 1,500 suggestions and building product solutions including where products can be obtained. A document that may be downloaded and edited is created. Pictures, diagrams, sketches, etc. may be added and/or BUILDEASE^® contents may be added to another document.   

WAYS TO USE BUILDEASE^®  

          BUILDEASE^® consists of the three components mentioned above. Each of the modules can be printed or downloaded into a PDF or Text File.

The CLIENT ABILITIES CHECKLIST or HOME CHECKLIST can be accessed directly on the computer. The user clicks on the statements that apply to the specific client or the client’s home. A checklist with the various concerns for the client or their home as well as “abilities” that require measurements is produced. This can be downloaded to a word file:

·        ON COMPUTER
Client and/or Home information can be entered directly into a Word Document.

·        PAPER AND PENCIL
Checklists can be printed for measurements and comments to be recorded on a paper and pencil version and later transcribed into the computer.

·        PDA
Checklists can be downloaded to a PDA Pocket Word program on a PDA. This is particularly applicable for the HOME CHECKLIST. Click on View and Click on Wrap to Window. Zoom to the % that suits you best. Up load the document on to your computer.

The CHECKLISTS contain a place where measurements of the client, the rooms and/or items in the home can be recorded. Since recording pictorially is also helpful in creating home modification suggestions, it is advisable to also photograph places of interest and/or concern.

     BUILDEASE^® WORKSHEET guides the user in selecting from a database of more than 1,500 suggestions and building product solutions, including where products can be obtained. These solutions are linked to the items in the ABILITES and HOME CHECKLISTS. Based on the selections made for the client and the home, the solutions in the BUILDEASE^® WORKSHEET are populated. As one can do with the other checklists, this document may be printed and/or downloaded into a word document and then edited. Graphics, pictures, photographs, floor plans, etc. may be added. How the information is applied to developing a home modification plan is up to the user.
